Endoscopy

Is a medical procedure that uses an instrument called an endoscope. The endoscope is put into the body to look inside and is sometimes used for certain kinds of surgery. The viewing tube has a small fiberoptic camera on the eyepiece, which allows for examination of the abdominal and pelvic organs on a video monitor connected to the tube. Endoscopy can be performed to diagnose conditions or to perform certain types of operations. At the Department of Clinical Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine one Wolf 5509 HD Endocam and three Karl Storz endoscopes 10mm 0 and 30 degrees 2x2D and 1x3D (30 degrees) are available.
