The aim of the committee is to ensure coherence across the main academic area’s various laboratory animal facilities operated by the Department of Biomedicine and the Department of Clinical Medicine, thereby ensuring high standards for animal testing at Health.

Animal Welfare Bodies coordinates and follows the overall operation and development within the area in a dialogue with researchers, employees in the laboratory animal facilities and the Danish Animal Experiments Inspectorate etc.

In its entirety, the performance of this task must ensure a solid foundation and good framework for animal testing at Health.

The committee has the following overall tasks:

• Ensure high quality operations
• Ensure a high degree of coordination
• Ensure development of the area
• Act as the animal welfare body for Health at Aarhus University in accordance with the ministerial order on animal testing
